Set "Сraquelure and decoupage" for decorating items made of various materials (canvas, cardboard, glass, wood, leather) in the technique of craquelure using acrylic paints.
Apply glossy acrylic paint on the surface of the product and keep it until it dries completely (at least 1 hour). It is recommended to coat porous surfaces (e.g. wood) with acrylic primer beforehand. Mix the craquelure varnish before application. Apply the varnish in one layer with a flat brush in one direction or with a sponge. The same spot can be varnished only once! Allow to dry for at least 30 minutes. Apply a second coat of paint. Almost immediately cracks - craquelures - will form on the surface of the paint. To shorten the drying time, the item can be dried with a hair dryer.
The thicker the layer of varnish or the top layer of paint, the larger and less frequent the cracks will be. The first paint layer will be visible through the cracks of the top paint. A greater effect is achieved by using paints of contrasting colors.
Another option for creating an aging effect is possible: apply paint and varnish as described above. It is not necessary to apply a second layer of paint. Allow to dry for at least 24 hours. A grid of fine cracks will form on the surface of the lacquer.
Store varnish and paints in tightly closed containers. Rinse brushes and tools with water after work. In case of skin contact, wash off with water.
