WATERCOLOR AND GOUACHE BRUSHES

  • Rinse brushes right after use. Both baby soap and shampoo are suitable. You can also use special soaps and brush cleaners.
  • In order to maintain the shape of the brushes after washing, gently form brush tuft to its original shape and place the brushes to dry at room temperature horizontally on napkin, cloth or towel.
  • When working with masking fluid use special brushes. Use other brushes with special care: soap brush hair before masking fluid, do not let a brush dry out, rinse right after.
  • To increase paint absorption properties and life time of brushes, prior to use spray watercolor cuvettes with water, turn solid paints into paste, for dried up gouache just fill it with a small amount of water overnight.

GENERAL RECOMMENDATIONS

  • Never cut brush hairs, otherwise your brush will lose its precise point. In our production each brush head
  • is assembled by hand: hair to hair and is never cut.
  • Dry brushes away from direct sunlight, heaters, avoid drying with brush hair facing up.
  • Choose horizontal position for drying.
  • Do not use acetone-based cleaners, as it may dissolve brush tuft glue.
  • When traveling, avoid hair deformation by using special case or wrapping brushes in paper.
  • Do not leave in the water with brush hair facing down and crushed by container bottom, hair damage can be irreformable.
  • Special gumming compound preserves perfect brush head form, improves hair characteristics, protects for transportation, and helps to demonstrate the shape to artists. Wash it off with running water before the first use.
  • If you want to save damaged brush hair, place it in hot or boiling water for a moment, set it to original form.
  • Brush handles are protected with chemical-resistant lacquer or lacquer impregnation, so it makes them water-resistant. Though we would not recommend keeping brushes in water for a long time below the ferrule level.
  • Use a different set of brushes for each type of paint.
